All Booked!

Hey guys!
All our flight tickets, lodging and transportation are booked for this year’s trip to Chiang Rai! Total expenses per pax excluding food and shopping is around S$760 and all are paid for by our own members, just to be part of something meaningful that CGG is committed to do annually.

This year so far we have only 9 participants as most of our regular members have their own commitments. However I have a couple of friends from Chiang Rai itself whom will be joining us there. Nevertheless, it’s gonna be a fruitful trip and we are so looking forward to it. Will be meeting up sometime next week to work on the programs while we are there. Just waiting for our friends to get back on the wish list and demographics of the kids there to better cater to them.

At the same time, we will be having another fund raiser event this year sometime end Nov. Yes it is our popular Fund Bake event again and this year we will be holding it in a proper baking environment, and learning from an artisan baker with many years of experience! We shall reveal the item that we’ll be learning to bake once the venue is confirmed! Looking forward to everyone’s support on this!

Alrighty gonna run, stay tuned to more updates sometime this weekend!

God bless,
Big Roy

Members Meeting Cum Dinner

As our members are all so busy with our working lives, we finally met up and nailed down this year’s annual charity trip and we are heading to Chiang Rai! Chiang Rai is the northern part of Thailand and is a place where the famous Golden Triangle is. Many children are from across the borders of Myanmar and Laos, and are of hill-tribe origins. Most of them do not have Thai identity, hence when they grow up, they will have difficulties finding a job, let alone of having the right to own a house. Hence hopefully we can help by donating foodstuffs and necessities to make their lives a little better.

We have also identified 3 homes/shelters to visit, bring joy to them and spreading the love. We will be confirming with these homes soon on their availability during the period which we will be flying up.

We will also be having a fund raising event to not just raise funds but also to keep in touch with our friends who have been supporting CGG for the past 6 years! We shall be posting the event soon! Stay tuned!

Nevertheless, despite my tired mind and aching body from work, I would still wanna write this post and thank all members who have turned up for the meeting and dinner, who have thought of all matters with regards to the trip and our local projects. Thank you for your support all these years and keeping this group going strong! All these from the bottom of my heart!

Project Chiang Mai A Success!

Project Chiang Mai was a success! Sorry it took us so long to update as it is always hectic the first quarter of the year and at the same time we were tabulating the figures while going about our full time jobs. Nevertheless, Project Chiang Mai was a blast and we not only reached out to the 170 kids from Baan Mae Ping, but also to 2 other villages and a physically impaired girl, who comes from a really poor family with only her mother trying to make ends meet while attending to her all the time. It is just depressing to witness such a case, so we discussed and donated 10000 bahts to them which is around S$400 but it can help them a lot to improve their living conditions. You guys can check out the pics if you haven’t at http://on.fb.me/1ib4jCT.

Anyways, as usual, every year we would wanna thank our wonderful donors who trust us and believe in what we do. Without them, it will be tougher for us to execute such projects. Please see the list of donors for 2013.

CHIANG MAI/PAI , HERE WE COME!

How time really flies! In about 12 hours, the CGG team of 16 will be heading to Chiang Mai and then Pai to reach our beneficiary school/orphanage Baan Mae Ping. We have geared up so much for this day and it finally arrived. All members are extremely excited for this trip and believe me, our Whatsapp group has so many exchanges in conversation that if anyone missed it, it’ll be like hundreds of unread messages!

We will be setting off early in the morning on Christmas Day and will be shopping for the kids when we arrive in Chiang Mai. I will be reporting as real-time as possible (depending on network availability) for our family and friends who are very excited but at the same time, concern for our safety. While we are all partying tonight and tomorrow on this blessed day, I wish that we are in your prayers for clear skies and safety as we will be traveling up north to a village Pai via some windy mountainous roads.

So keep updated on our Facebook page (http://goo.gl/Qh57PQ) as we will be updating our journey for all of you! Merry Christmas y’all!

CGG Gourmet Coffee Appreciation Workshop A Success!

What an awesome day! Today’s Gourmet Coffee Workshop held at Highlander Coffee was a great success! We had 2 great sessions and we were filled for both of them!

All thanks are going out to all friends and family who came today to support our event, your participation gives us more reason for us to carry on further in our mission to help more unfortunate kids!

Thanks also for friends who took so much time in baking cookies and biscottis for the participants and also for sale as well! they taste great!

Thanks are also going out to Highlander Coffee for hosting the venue at a discounted rate for us and accommodating our infiltration into their premise! 😉 They gave us in depth knowledge of how coffee was evolved and how to prepare various types of coffee with proper techniques!

And not forgetting all members of CGG for coming down to help and ensure our guests are comfortable from the time they arrive! You guys are awesome!

We have uploaded all the pictures of today’s event on our FB page (http://goo.gl/jEKM71), so go check ’em out now! 🙂

Spirit of Giving

Just received a cash donation via paypal from a friend in UK whom I haven’t seen for 2 decades! Yes, 20 years… And no, I’m not old… ;P. And also a couple of months ago, I’ve received 2 cash donations TTed into my personal bank account. Of which one is an old pal and the other, also someone whom I’ve not seen for more than a decade! 14 years to be exact! (Seriously, I’m not old! ;P) Anyways, on behalf of CGG and the kids we’re helping, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’m totally elated that what we are doing touches the hearts of others, even though what we’re doing can be replicated by anyone. We don’t ask for donations openly and we don’t coerce anyone to donate either. Friends and relatives donate on their own accord and they trust that we’ll utilize the funds honestly in the best manner possible.

I’m feeling the Christmas’ spirit of giving is in the air, do you? 😉

With gratitude,
Big Roy

Hacking Attempt On CGG’s Email

This is not the first time this is happening on our email account. Could be some hacking bot that is trying to access to our email or it could be someone who is trying to use our email account to request for ‘donations’. See an excerpt from gmail’s warning email:

We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

I am seriously happy that CGG’s getting some recognition or rather attention from the world, definitely flattering. But using a charity group’s email for your unscrupulous intentions is totally not cool. A big ZERO in morality. If you need to hack, why can’t you be like Robin Hood? Why are you robbing the poor now? Are you sick? Leave us alone please!

This definitely brings to our attention that we should clarify a couple of issues here for all our family and friends:

  1. CGG will not request any monies/donations/funding from anyone via email. CGG will not be responsible for any monies/donations/funding lost via such scams.
  2. CGG’s activities will only be announced via this website officially, until further notice.
  3. In any case of doubts, please drop us a message on Facebook or Twitter or my personal email account limroyATgmail.com. (Bots pick up email addresses electronically if you use the ‘a’ with a circle around it symbol.)

Thank you all for your support so far in all our activities and we hope y’all can continue to support us in our efforts to help the unfortunate kids and indoctrinate them to ‘pass it forward’ when they grow up. Your support has helped us change lives in small but awesome ways! Looking forward to see you all in our upcoming Gourmet Coffee Appreciation Workshop event! (http://wp.me/E63z) That’s the best time to know us better and our missions/visions for our group! So sign up now before all the slots are filled up! 🙂

See y’all soon!

With loads of gratitude,

Big Roy ❤
