CHIANG MAI/PAI , HERE WE COME!

How time really flies! In about 12 hours, the CGG team of 16 will be heading to Chiang Mai and then Pai to reach our beneficiary school/orphanage Baan Mae Ping. We have geared up so much for this day and it finally arrived. All members are extremely excited for this trip and believe me, our Whatsapp group has so many exchanges in conversation that if anyone missed it, it’ll be like hundreds of unread messages!

We will be setting off early in the morning on Christmas Day and will be shopping for the kids when we arrive in Chiang Mai. I will be reporting as real-time as possible (depending on network availability) for our family and friends who are very excited but at the same time, concern for our safety. While we are all partying tonight and tomorrow on this blessed day, I wish that we are in your prayers for clear skies and safety as we will be traveling up north to a village Pai via some windy mountainous roads.

So keep updated on our Facebook page (http://goo.gl/Qh57PQ) as we will be updating our journey for all of you! Merry Christmas y’all!

PROJECT CHIANG MAI 2013 UPDATES 2

Hey folks!

Just some updates following from our previous update for this year’s trip to Chiang Mai.

Participants:

We have a total of 13 participants signed up for this trip! Now we are left with only 3 slots for any one of you who are still contemplating in joining us! Email us at cggsingapore@gmail.com to register your interest!

Donations:

We have received some donations from our friends and colleagues these couple of weeks. Similar to our members who commit their leave days and own funds for our annual trips to bring joy and hope to the less fortunate kids, we too have a bunch of friends, family and colleagues who are there supporting us yearly for our projects. Some were skeptical at first but when they see the stuff that CGG does and the appropriate usage of the donated funds, they have more confidence that these monies get to the hands of the needy. Kudos to all our donors in the past years and years to come!

Fund Raising:

We are in the midst of planning our fund raising Coffee Appreciation Cum Latte Art event on the 14th December 2013, Saturday. There will be 2 sessions;  morning and afternoon. Details will be out soon sometime this month. Lock in the date first if you’re keen ‘cos we have also locked in that date for the event. 🙂

Will update again soon, take care y’all!

With gratitude,

Big Roy

Project Chiang Mai 2013

Hey y’all!

As you may have recently discovered that we have postponed Project Myanmar this year due to the SEA Games which coincidentally will be held in Myanmar at the same time we are suppose to be there.  We came to this decision due to the fact that hotel rooms are pretty booked up, while everything else is inflated for this upcoming huge event in Southeast Asia. As a result, we reckon that our every dollar cannot be stretched as much as we expected it to be. We want our donors’ money well spent. At the same time, as all expenses are paid by the members themselves, it will be pretty costly for them as well.

Hence we have brought forward our next year’s project, which is to Chiang Mai. With God’s blessings, we managed to get contacts and information for the north western parts of Thailand, Pai District of Mae Hon Son. Pai is a village within the valley of mountains which is about 4 hours drive from Chiang Mai city. The people there are mainly from hill-tribes and have been living in poverty.

The School/Orphanage:

We have a few options actually but just to mention one of them, which is a school cum orphanage. This school has 200 kids and out of the 200 kids, there are 40 orphans, whom were made orphans overnight by irresponsible parents who dumped them in the school and didn’t come back for them. That’s how poor they are. The kids will be fed lunch in school daily and you can imagine the cost for feeding 200 kids. Their staples have been poor quality broken rice and vegetables. Meat or even noodles are rare unless some charity/volunteer groups come along and buy them lunch when they visit. So quite likely we wanna help this principal who dedicated her life to taking care of these children (especially the orphans), forgoing her own marriage and possible city life.

How You Can Help:

Contributions can be in the form of the following:

  1. Sponsor A Bag Of Rice – S$50 for 100kg of broken rice. They need basic necessities like these on top of other stuff like mosquito nets, sanitary pads, soap, milk powder.
  2. Sponsor A Lunch Of Love – We will engage a cook from an eatery in Pai to cook a simple noodle soup lunch for 200 kids and staff. Cost is around S$500 per lunch. (We were told that some kids can eat 3-4 bowls as they do not know when they will get to eat this again.)
  3. Donate A Cartridge Of Polaroid Films – We need around 25 cartridges so that each kids will get to keep a Polaroid picture taken with one or more of our members. So that they will be reminded that when they grow up, they can also help others in need.

There will be excess from these money that are donated and we will donate them to the school.

We will be organizing a Coffee Appreciation Session also, price at around S$50 per pax. Venue and date yet to be confirmed. Same thing, surplus will be donated to the school.  We will also be using our balance funds from last year to buy stationeries and snacks for the kids, and maybe donate some money also.  All spending and donors will be mentioned in this website after the whole event, just like what we did for the past few years.

Tentative Dates:

25th to 30th Dec 2013

For those who wanna join us in this expedition, we are limiting to 16pax only. Our members going this year consist of 9 pax already. All base on first-come-first-join basis. 🙂 All expenses (air tickets, accommodation, transportation, food, tour, etc) will be shared and paid out of the participant’s pocket. Funds collected will be used for the beneficiary/beneficiaries only.

So if you and your mates would like to sponsor or donate any of the above-mentioned, or if you would like to join us for this trip, please email us at cggsingapore@gmail.com. Be sure to ‘Follow Us’ here, our Twitter @caregiversgroup and our Facebook Page for further announcements for the trip and activities.

We need all the help we can get! Looking forward to hear from you guys! 🙂

Care always,

CGG Committee
